Well, we’re back!! We
had some technical difficulty earlier last week, then my husband went out of
town, I got sick and the baby got sick. We are all better now (almost), and
ready to get the Cheese rolling down the hill again!! Thanks for sticking
with me!!
Happy Birthday LEGO
This year is the
50th birthday of our good friend, the LEGOBrick!! It was technically in January, but
I say let’s celebrate the whole year! Here are a few facts about our
favorite building block!
LEGO is a
fusion of the Danish words “LEg” and “GOd” (“play well”).
In 1932,
LEGO blocks were wooden toys until creator Ole Kirk Christansen
discovered plastic to be the better material 15 years later.
An original
LEGO brick from 1958 and a brand new 2008 LEGO brick will fit together
perfectly. Their size and shape will differ slightly, but they will fit
together.
LEGO bricks
in boxes that are not sold are melted again and turned into new bricks,
in accordance with waste prevention and environmental responsibility.
Just before
the turn of the millennium the LEGO brick was voted “Toy of the
Century”, one of the highest awards in the toy industry, by both Fortune
Magazine in the US and the British Association of Toy Retailers.
The above
information can all be found on
thispage on the LEGO
site.
Legoland Windsor
in Berkshire, England has recently completed the world record highest LEGO
tower. Read the article

Now, go get some
LEGOs and build something!!
